The 1290 platform now exists since 2013 and has most of its problems solved. I had over 10 000 km on my 1190S and it did not miss a beat. I am approacing 10000 km on my 1290 SAS and it has been flawless and I just love it. Have done several long distance trips of more than a 1000 km each and longest have been 4400km.

It's an abandoned race track not far from my town, in northern Italy. Been there a couple of years ago, it looks like they made a lot of clean up as the track was filled by the vegetation then. They advised me to make a warranty repair claim for two new tyres, plus new rim seal bands plus grommets for the TPMS sensors. It is a very common issue on the 1.0 and 2.0, stress fractures at the mounts cause leaks. Simple to change it but the part is ~$500 if out of warranty. Make sure you keep your battery terminals tight, they can work their way loose and give MTC failure and other odd-ball errors. Lots of tips and such on the FB group "Club KTM 1290 Super Duke R".
