🎄 Cage Feeder Vs Method Feeder
Pellets of this texture are perfect for moulding around the Method feeder. 3. Band a 6mm or 8mm hard pellet and place the baited hook centrally into the bottom of your empty Method mould. 4. Fill the Method mould to the brim with the soaked 2mm pellets. Your hair-rigged hookbait should be buried beneath the pile of bait.
As for feeders, I started with two of the plastic chick feeders, but when they outgrew those, I went with a 12# galvanized hanging feeder. I have a rope system rigged up so I can raise or lower it and they are not wasting feed, as far as I can tell.
Creating your own method mix gives you a massive amount of freedoom. Particles such as hemp, pellet and corn are a great combination to include in the mix, though you can also soften some pellets to mould around the feeder or simply buy a specific method/groundbait mix straight off the shelf. Personally I like to include a few different food items.
To create this rig you’ll need to thread an in-line Method feeder upon your strong mainline – between 8lb and 12lb is ideal. Next thread a small bead onto your mainline and tie on a strong swivel. The hooklength you will need should be very short and very robust, again between 8lb and 12lb breaking strain line is ideal.
4) Doesn't matter which feeder is used in game. A cage feeder will dump bait out fast, whereas a closed feeder (plastic with the small holes) is for filling with maggots etc which releases bait over time as maggots find the holes and escape, or groundbait washes out more slowly.
Step 3: Add two 200ml pole cups of lake water with some liquid additive such as XL Krill. Step 4: Mix thoroughly until a nice consistency is achieved and then push through a riddle to remove any lumps. Step 5: The finished groundbait should have a very fine pouring texture.
These types of feeder rods are longer and are available in 12ft-13ft options. They are ideal for fishing rivers or big lakes, and for targeting species like chub, bream, carp, and roach. Medium-Feeder Rods work well with 4lb – 6lb line and can be used to fish with most types of feeders.
